ANCESTRY:
WORLD’S BIGGEST
FAMILY TREE

A man named Roy Blackmore spent 30 years following an intricate genealogical paper trail that connected him to a jaw-unhinging 10,000 ancestors. Chief among his family were major heavyweights Alfred the Great and William the Conqueror. Feeling inspired, we set about doing a bit of proactive work for ancestry.co.uk

Using Ancestry’s matchless online records and the wide reach of social media, we encouraged people to help us create The World’s Biggest Family Tree.

An app that found your online dopplegänger, weekly research tips, unsolved mysteries, serialised stories, real-life family scandals and more, made the seemingly laborious and fusty fun and fashionable.
